B&Bs for Vets – look what’s in store
More than 900 inns and B&Bs participated in the B&Bs for Vets program in 2010, opening their doors to active military, retired military and vets. Once again in 2011, hundreds of inns and B&Bs in the U.S. and Canada will welcome vets for a complimentary night on Thursday, November 10 so they can wake up on Veteran’s Day in a beautiful inn or B&B. Images from the B&Bs for Vets 2010 program will help give a sense of what’s in store for 2011. Hat’s off to innkeepers throughout the U.S. who shared images and video clips with the Better Way to Stay campaign.
Many innkeepers welcomed vets with receptions and all the comforts of the B&Bs, including a hearty red, white and blue breakfast!

Even the centerpiece was red, white and blue at Elkwood Manor!A patriotic start marked breakfast on Veteran's Day at the Elkwood Manor B&B.

Thank you so much Better Way To Stay,
On November 10, 2011, my family stayed at maple Hill Manor, KY. My family of 5 had such a nice time. My children still talk about the visit and the attention to detail. Thank you so much for supporting America’s Veterans.
Respectfully,
Dawn
My good friend in K.C. MO. unable to travel far but, could you make some suggestions for me to share with he and his lovely wife. What a blessing this would be.
Thank you,
Kim

In fact, right in KC, Southmoreland On the Plaza is hosting vets for free stays on 11-10-11. You might give them a call!
Thanks to your friend for his/her fine service!
We just returned from a memorable two-day “B&Bs For Vets” stay at the Acorn B&B at Mill River, NC. This particular inn was chosen after reviewing the several participating western North Carolina B&B web sites. We were not disappointed! The innkeepers, Gene and Bob, couldn’t have been more gracious, nor the B&B lovelier.
The expertly decorated rooms were cozy and well appointed. And the breakfasts were unique, absolutely delicious and expertly prepared by Gene (a former Navy cook). As all of the guests during our stay were military families, the conversation around the table was both lively and inspirational.
The Acorn B&B is ideally located for visitors wishing to tour the world famous Biltmore Estate. This amazing facility is an easy 15-minute drive from the Inn. For fly-in visitors the Asheville Airport is just five minutes away; and, in spite of its proximity, no aircraft takeoffs or landings were heard.
Gene went out of his way to make us feel welcome from the minute we pulled into his driveway until our departure two days later. We can’t wait to view the photo that Gene took of us at his front door minutes before bidding each other adieu!
Would we recommend the Acorn B&B to other veterans? In a heartbeat! And words can’t capture the gratitude we feel for your making your free night offer. God bless you, and God bless America!
